The Tribal Building Construction Office employs various firms, consultants, engineers, general contractors, and professionals to assist with capital construction.  In order to conduct business with the Tribe a contract will crafted.  In order to contract with the Tribe a firm, agency or contractor must have the following:

  • $1,000,000.00 (Minimum) Liability Insurance
  • $1,000,000.00 (Minimum) Automobile Insurance
  • Workers Compensation
  • Internal Revenue Services W-9 Form completed and signed
  • Tribal Traders License-  This may be obtained through the Tribal Finance Office.  For details contact the Finance Office at (828) 497-7054.  This process will require a criminal background check of all principal individuals that will manage affairs for the firm while conducting business as an agent of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
  • Procurement-  Prior to starting any job or duty for the Tribe, the firm should consult with the Tribal Employment Rights Office.  This office will help the firm properly procure goods and services.  Contact the TERO office at (828) 497-1780.  When using Tribal Funds, firms in agency of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians are required to abide by TERO guidelines.  For further guidelines of the Tribe’s fiscal management policy that will govern procurement or use of funds contact the Procurement Officer in Tribal Financial Compliance at (828) 497-7055.
  • Those firms involved with construction may be required to obtain building permits or test materials like asphalt, concrete, plumbing, or electrical works.  The Tribe operates a Building Inspection office.  To obtain permits or testing, contact the Building Inspection office at  (828) 497-1855 or 497-1824.
