A policeman is many things…

A policeman is son or daughter, a brother or sister, a father or mother, an uncle or aunt and sometimes even a grandfather or grandmother.

A policeman is a protector in time of need and a comforter in time of sorrow.

A policeman’s job calls for them to be a diplomat, a psychologist, a lawyer, a friend and an inspiration.

A policeman suffers from an overdose of publicity about brutality and dishonesty.

A policeman suffers far more from notoriety produced by unfounded charges.

Too often acts of heroism go unnoticed and the truth is buried under all the criticism.

The fact is less than one half of one percent of all policemen ever discredits their uniform.

That’s a better average than you will find among clergymen.

A policeman is an ordinary guy or girl who’s called upon for extraordinary bravery.

Their job may sometimes seem routine but the interruptions can be moments of stark terror.

They are the men and women who face a half crazed gunman, who rescue a lost child, who challenge a mob and risk their necks more than we realize.

A policeman deserves respect and profound thanks.

A policeman stands between the law abider and the law breaker.

They are the prime reason your home has not been burned, your family abused and your business looted.

Try to imagine what would happen if there were no policeman around.

And then try to think of ways to make their job more rewarding.

Send thanks to our policeman.

Let them know how much they are appreciated.
