Big Cove Council Members
Perry Shell is serving his fifth term as a Council Representative for the Big Cove and Tow String Communities. He is a retired soldier from the United States Army, serving from 1977 to 1997. From 1997 to 2003, Perry was a Finance Manager at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino. Perry graduated in May of 2006 from Montreat College with his Masters. He is an active member of the Big Cove Community Club, Big Cove Free Labor Group, and the local Kiwanis Club. He is married to Phyllis, and he is the proud father of Lystia. He and Phyllis have one grandson, Joe Perry Saunooke. Perry enjoys walking in the woods, reading and studying Cherokee and Native American history and culture.

Bo Taylor is serving his first term as a representative for the Big Cove Community. He previously worked at the Museum of the Cherokee Indian for 13 years as the Archivist Collections Manager and Education Coordinator. Bo teaches the Cherokee Language via the Total Physical Response Method, and has conducted classes all over the United States. He is a founding member of the Warriors of Anikituwah. He attends Cherokee United Methodist Church. Bo and his wife, Esther, reside in the Big Cove Community with their daughters Abigale and Naomi. He is the son of Velma Taylor of the Big Cove Community, and Bobby Taylor of the Wolftown Community.
